Emily Thomsen Design was founded in 2025 from a love of thoughtful, personal spaces and a belief that great design begins with listening. Collaboration is at the center of the studio’s approach. Every project is shaped by the client’s personality, lifestyle, and story.

Emily earned her Bachelor’s degree from Princeton University, where she studied philosophy and competed as a Division I soccer player. She began her career as a financial analyst before realizing that interior design was the work she was meant to do after a short time living in Los Angeles, a city whose architecture and design culture reshaped her career path.

Emily returned to school to study Interior Design and Interior Architecture at UCLA Extension and later worked as a designer at Sagrada Studio, an interior design firm in Los Angeles. During her time there, she helped design and manage a range of remodels and furnishing projects, gaining meaningful hands-on experience across residential and commercial projects.

In 2025, Emily moved to San Clemente with her husband and opened Emily Thomsen Design. Her approach focuses on creating interiors that reflect the individuality and essence of each client. She has since designed projects in Los Angeles, San Francisco, New York City, and her home base of San Clemente. Emily loves to travel and draws inspiration from each place she works, adapting each project to the client, the location, and the architectural character of the home. Her design philosophy centers on bringing out the best in every space rather than applying a single aesthetic, resulting in interiors that feel intentional, personal, and grounded in their surroundings.
